Legs Up The Wall (viparita karani) is one of my favorite stress reduction exercises. This exercise is a yoga inversion pose that helps bring blood and lymph back to the heart, reduces anxiety and stress, and offers a nice stretch to the hamstrings. I like to perform the Legs Up The Wall pose after a workout or before bed.
If lying flat is uncomfortable, you can place a pillow or towel under your neck, hips or lower back to make this pose more comfortable. If you find that you get dizzy in this position, then you may want to avoid this exercise.
